One of the most common questions I get asked from my clients is what exercises do I need to do to get rid of my belly?


And my response always surprises them.  Most of the time they’re expecting me to recommend specific “ab exercises” to “target” their belly fat. 

 

Well, I’m going to be real up front about this, you CANNOT and WILL NOT reduce belly fat through “spot reduction” exercises!

In other words, doing exercises like crunches, where you’re working the muscles of your targeted region (your mid-section) will not reduce the fat in that area!

 

Many women mistakenly believe that they can blast away their excess belly fat just by doing “ab exercises.”  But quite honestly, this simply isn’t true.

 

Before I give you an honest answer to effectively and permanently reduce your belly size, I want you to think about something; if all it took to get a tight tummy were crunches and other abdominal exercises, don’t you think more women would have washboard abs?  I see many women at the gym wasting their time and energy doing all kinds of ab exercises, and despite their efforts, they’re left with a washtub instead.

 

So if crunches aren’t the answer to a flat tummy, then what is? 

 

Brace yourself and get ready for the hard truth.  Achieving a flat tummy has a lot more to do with what you put in your body and how you manage your stress than doing targeted ab exercises.
