I'm going to share something personal with you... something people ask me about a lot.
And that is, what I eat for lunch on busy days.
I mean, really busy days, when I don't have an opportunity to sit down and eat one of my usual Last Minute Lunches.
I'm talking about days when the only time I really have to eat lunch is when I'm driving in the car to meet my next client. Can you relate?
When this is the case, eating a salad or leftovers from the night before isn't going to cut it. And I have to go to plan B—operation homemade smoothie!
Now, when I make a smoothie, I don't add your typical processed, sugar-filled, chemically-laden garbage protein powder. I use only whole foods—fruits, veggies, seeds, oil, and yogurt—to create a delicious, healthy and satisfying on-the-go lunch.
Here's my all time favorite smoothie recipe. It is packed with healthy carbs, proteins and fats, so it's not only good for you, but it will actually hold you over until your next meal or snack.

Comment by Melissa Koerner on December 9, 2012 at 9:38am Thanks for your comment, Donna. Yes, eating protein and fats in the morning is important to start your day fueled. I recommend eating protein and fat with every meal in balanced proportions for your Metabolic Type.
I personally don't consume protein powders for a number of reasons:
1. Often times the protein is extracted from its source under high temperatures, and this process denatures the protein and renders it a toxic and harmful substance.
2. Most of them contain a ton of sugar and additives (you must be cautious of the word "natural"--it doesn't mean safe or good for you.
3. Many brands have heavy metals in them.
Keep in mind that yogurt is actually a source of protein and fats. My personal rule of thumb is to always eat real food to get my protein.
